JConcepts: New B44.2 Center Bulkhead Cap

JConcepts: New B44.2 Center Bulkhead Cap

Picture 1

JConcepts is pleased to offer a replacement bulkhead center cap for the famous B44.2 buggy kit. The machined aluminum component, anodized in blue, is a handy replacement for the stock plastic unit and is a drop-on to the center slipper assembly. With the motor mount and bulkhead as one assembly in the B44 vehicle, temperatures peak out and transfer through the entire center assembly allowing the new cap to act with heat-sink capability.

The stout design with external ribbing has increased strength over the plastic unit, is symmetrical in design and adds a higher level of detail and aesthetic appeal to an already championship vehicle. This part has been already used in competition by Ryan Maifield, winning events such as the Cactus Classic and JConcepts Indoor National Series events.

JConcepts

Features:

· Machined aluminum, blue anodized
· Ribbed structure for increased stiffness
· Laser etched JC logo for authenticity
· Symmetrical design
· Heat dissipation
· Aesthetic jewelry

Tekin goes “Under the Hood” with Ronda Drake

Tekin goes “Under the Hood” with Ronda Drake

Tekin-logo

If you don’t know who Ronda Drake is you’ve been living under a rock somewhere. All kidding aside Ronda is one of if not the fastest female talent RC Racing has in the world. Ronda has been racing and competing at the top level for awhile now(it’s not polite to ask guys ;) ) . “I personally met Ronda back at an old Hot Rod Shootout circa late 90′s. She was in my heat and I learned then as did many others did that this “chick” was going to but an ass whoop’n on us. She proceeded to out qualify me by two heats!  So when I ran into her later down the road I knew she’d be a perfect fit for Team Tekin.” Randy Pike

Let’s check out what’s “Under the Hood” in Ronda’s favorite Tekin powered ride!

Ronda is smashing down the competition with her TLR Scte 2.0 powered by the latest Tekin Pro4HD 4300kv and Rx8 Esc. This combination has taken over the 4wd SC division and with it Ronda is tough to beat.

As you can see from the pictures the wiring install is clean and well routed. This not only looks pretty it assures that her equipment is always going to work.

4wd sc5 copy

Ronda has fashioned a lexan guard around her receiver to protect if from roost thrown by her front tires. These are the little details that separate the girls from the men….pretty smart.

Ronda’s 4wd SC body is nicely wrapped up by Upgrade RC. Next time you’re at the “big race” of the year and you get motored by this pink and black land rocket just know you’re getting beaten by the fastest gal in R/C!

X Factory: First Body Off Pics of the X-6 Cubed

X Factory: First Body Off Pics of the X-6 Cubed

XFactoryLogoGood

We have obtained body-off photos of X Factory engineer Paul Sinclair’s prototype X – 6 Cubed, and it’s an exciting new design indeed. In recent months X Factory has released photos with the body on, but they have kept the lid on details of the new car while final details of the design were worked out.

x61 copy

As one can see from the photos, the X – 6 Cubed will be an all carbon fiber car in keeping with X Factory’s recently released SCX – 60CF short course and the X – 60CF stadium truck. Spokesman Chazz Sinclair said, “We will be an all-carbon fiber company in about 6 weeks when the Cubed is released. Both the X – 6 Squared and X – 60 will still be available; they are molded chassis cars and there are certain advantages to that. But we believe most customers will prefer the lightweight, narrow carbon fiber cars.”

x62

While the X – 6 Cubed is similar in some ways to the X – 60CF and SCX – 60CF, that basic design has been changed and updated to many buggy-specific changes. Engineer Paul Sinclair explained: “Buggies are lighter and shorter, so you want different characteristics in how they take bumps, jump, and corner. Especially, they must flex differently, and we have achieved that in the X – 6 Cubed.”

x64

Several important features of the new X – 6 Cubed:

Carbon fiber construction.
New top deck for easily adjustable chassis flex. Adjust both the amount of flex and where the chassis flexes.
New slim design for better cornering and performance over bumps.
Very close to minimum legal weight. Lighter than other buggies.
Moves rear shock tower forward. This moves the wing forward for better performance in the air.
Great carbon fiber and polished aluminum look.
All new body and medium-downforce wing. Existing high-downforce wing still fits.
Retains X Factory’s great 4-Gear transmission.
Retains the X – 6 Squared’s rear pivot and control arms.
Uses either saddle or shorty pack; both can be moved forward or back to change weight distribution.

x63 copy

Paul Sinclair said, “The car in these photos is my prototype car, and there are a few minor changes between this and final production. The biggest one is the way the ball studs are mounted to the rear tower; in production, the ballstuds will be in the same location but mounted vertically. Also, the body mounts are not on my car. Otherwise, this is it.”

x65

Chazz added, “Eight Team drivers in U.K. have Cubes, along with one in Belgium, one in Australia, and six U.S. Team drivers. Every one of them reports 2-3 tenths faster lap times than with their Squareds. More important, every one says the Cubed is even easier to drive fast than the Squared. That’s hard to believe, but they are unanimous. They describe the X – 6 Cubed as ‘light and nimble’ compared to the Squared. The Cubed truly is higher math.”

x66 copy

After several delays from various parts suppliers, the X – 6 Cubed should begin shipping to dealers in early June. All dealer orders will be filled before the car is released for retail sales on X Factory’s web store, so the fastest way to get one is from your local hobby store. The car will be available two ways: a Conversion Kit for the AE B4/4.1/4.2 and an UpGrade Kit for the X – 6 Squared.

This past weekend marked the second round of one of the hottest RC series in the US. The JBRL Nitro Series presented by Pro-Line Racing was started just over 10 years ago and has grown into a monster that now attracts the nation’s top drivers and media. While it is still considered a club race rather than a national series, taking home top honors is a big deal to some of the nation’s top pros.

Screen shot 2013-05-15 at 6.20.15 AM

This past weekend the JRBL visited Palm Desert R/C Raceway in Palm Desert CA. The event attracted over combined 130 entries between the classes and made for a great day of racing. With temperatures reaching 110 Degrees, drivers were put to the test not just mentally, but physically as well. Beyond the physical demand of the competitors came the abuse that drivers inflicted on their cars, especially their tires. When the heat reaches numbers that high you generally see tires start to deteriorate very quickly and lap times fall off.

Pro Buggy

At the end of qualifying Pro-Line Racing Driver Adam Drake claimed the front spot on the grid followed by Pro-Line Racing team mates Mike Truhe and Cody King who were sitting second and third. As the 25 minute main was run things got shuffled around quite a bit moving Pro-Line’s Cody King to the top spot followed by teammates Adam Drake in the 2nd spot and Mike Truhe in 3rd. All the guys said it was a great race and were happy to see Pro-Line Racing go 1-2 3 in Pro Buggy.

E Buggy

In the E Buggy Class more Pro-Line domination continued to take place. Team Driver Mike Truhe set both the fastest pace in qualifying and was able to continue his domination during the A main. Congrats also go out to Fellow teammates Adam Drake who clinched the second spot and Chris Marrale for wrapping up the 3rd spot on the podium. As with Pro buggy Pro-Line tires took all 3 spots on the big box.

Pro Truggy

In the Pro Truggy division Cody King was the man to beat at Round 2 of the JBRL. King was able to lock down TQ with the normal big dogs nipping at his heals. As the main started out Cody put in an amazing run keeping his Pro-Line equipped Truggy at the front of the pack and eventually took home another big win with teammate Adam Drake locking down the second spot.

We arrived at the track Friday night around 9:45 pm and we sat up our canopies and tables after that we headed to out hotel to get some shut eye. The track looked cool from what I could see in the dark and I was ready to race on it. The Event was at Amarillo Rc Motorcross Amarillo, Texas May 3rd-5th 2013.

Screen shot 2013-05-15 at 7.04.55 AM

Practice: Well I didn’t really have any practice because we arrived Friday night after practice was over because I couldn’t get out of school. So the practice I did have was 1 hour before the qualifiers started, and as well I kinda used the 1st qualifier as practice too. But for the short practice I did have I was running Blockade SC M3 Tires on Short Course, Diamond Back X3 Tires on VE8 Electric Buggy,Blockade M3 Tires on D812 Nitro Buggy, and Hole Shot VTR M3 tires on D8T Nitro Truggy and they were really hooking up!

Qualifiers: After my 1 hour of practice it was time for the qualifiers. The qualifiers were going to be ran with 4 rounds taking your best 2. I was really nervous because I had only had 1 hour of practice and in some parts of the track I was still trying to find the fastest was around the track. The first round of qualifying was really a dud because I used it as a practice round knowing I still had 3 other rounds. The 2nd round was kinda rough as well but I really picked it up in the 3rd and 4th round of qualifiers. I ended up qualifying 2nd for the A main in open nitro truggy, 6th for the A main in open nitro buggy, 1st for the B main in Short Course and 8th for electric buggy B main.

Screen shot 2013-05-15 at 7.04.34 AM

Mains: After a good nights rest I was ready for the Mains. I was really ready for nitro since I had some good qualifying spots. In the mains I ran the same tires as practice since they were really hooking up good. For Ebuggy B main I believe I qualified 8th and during the main I was just trying to go to fast and it really hurt me because I wrecked in some spots where there weren’t any marshals and it really cost me… I ended up finishing 8th.

For the Short course B main i qualified 1st and for the whole B main I just ran away and led the whole B main all the way till the finish so I bumped to the A. During the A we ran 3 A mains and I ran like 4th in the first one, broke in the 2nd one and  was running 4th in the 3rd one having a very good race with 3rd and I just pushed it to hard and the whole pack of cars was behind me and I wrecked and got passed up and finished 7th. I ended up finishing 7th overall.

Screen shot 2013-05-15 at 7.05.16 AM

Open nitro buggy A main I was qualified 6th this was a 30 min A main so I had to calm myself and just tell myself if I got behind I had plenty of time to catch up. During the main I ran a very hard and good race switching back and forth between 3rd and 4th but at the end of the race I was ahead of 4th and I was in 3rd and only 2 seconds off of 2nd and I was pushing really hard to catch him on the last lap but I couldn’t and I ended up finishing 3rd.

Screen shot 2013-05-15 at 7.03.55 AM

Now for the best race of my weekend, Open nitro truggy! During this A main I qualified 2nd I was so happy, but during warm-up laps we had some receiver issues. So I brought the car in and we couldn’t figure out what it was, so with 1 minute till the race started I tried to call a 1 minute call but I was denied because he already called the cars to the grid. So with one minute left I had my dad pull the receiver box off and I rebound the receiver with like 20 seconds left till the start of the race. After a successful bind it seemed to solve the issue so I ran back up onto the driver stand and with no time left my dad wanted to run without a receiver box but I insisted that he put it back on. The race started and I was still in pit lane, after all the cars had made it around the first corner we got the body back on and I started dead last. At that very moment I remember the thought that ran through my head and it was that my race was over, that there was no way I could catch up. But indeed I was wrong! With that thought running through my head I just drove my truck and didn’t crash at all and came back all the way to first! It was very hard but I had the time to do it, it was a 45 minute main. After he announced that I was in first I couldn’t believe my ears! I would have to say that was my best win ever with the circumstances I had to overcome.

Screen shot 2013-05-15 at 7.03.17 AM

For the conclusion of the race I have to say that is one of the best races I have ever ran in open nitro truggy. I also have to say that I had a very great time meeting new people and running on a great track. I would have to say that it was a very good weekend in nitro. I can’t wait until the next one but until then, Have a good one!
