Adam Drake at the 2012 Psycho Nitro Blast

Adam Drake at the 2012 Psycho Nitro Blast

Drake doubles up at the fifth annual Psycho Nitro Blast in Unadilla, GA last weekend. The Psycho Nitro Blast has become one of the largest events of the year, but still has a very laid back fun atmosphere. This year’s the event had nearly 600 entries, coverage from liverc.com, tons of practice, wooden jumps, and a wall ride. Jimmy Babcock and Nick Black were the race directors and they kept the program running smooth.

Adam Drake had a busy weekend running three classes and prepping his “Rocket Car” for its annual jump. In qualifying Adam was able to TQ the E buggy class and ended up second on the grid for nitro buggy and truck. Adam won both of the 10 minute E buggy finals, the 45 minute truck final, and finished 3rd in nitro buggy after a rough start. Adam’s consistency paid off and he was able to take home the 2012 Iron Man Award for the racer with the best combined score from three classes.

DE Racing sponsors BMiller Racing for 2012 Season!

DE RACING TO SPONSOR BMILLER RACING FOR 2012 SEASON

BMiller Racing, a radio-controlled car race team formed by professional basketball player Brad Miller, is pleased to announce that DE Racing has come aboard as a team sponsor for the 2012 race season. With a roster of 11 team drivers, BMiller Racing is scheduled to attend a number of RC races in the West and Midwest during the 2012 campaign while also taking part in other community outreach and hobby-growth activities.

BMiller Racing is doing some very interesting things in the world of radio-controlled car racing. They have an active race schedule and, most importantly, are focused on assisting others and finding ways to help grow the hobby of RC car racing. “We at DE Racing are pleased to be part of the BMiller Race Team,”” states DE Racing President Dave Enstrom.

DE Racing offers high quality aftermarket parts for the most popular electric and nitro radio-controlled off-road vehicles in production today. Located in Southern California, DE Racing is proud of the fact that all of their research, development, and production exists exclusively within the United States. The company’s most popular products are the Trinidad and Borrego wheels inspired by the full-scale short course trucks and buggies that navigate the grueling Baja 1000 and battle door-to-door in the TORC and Lucas Oil Off-Road Series’.

“I have been running DE Racing wheels on my vehicles for awhile now, and not only are they the most realistic looking rim in production today, they have a superior structural design and are extremely durable,”” says BMiller Racing team driver Lou Figueria.

JBRL Electric Series Rnd #1 by Zack Rogers

JBRL Electric Series Rnd #1 by Zack Rogers

It’s that time of year again for Socal racing, the JBRL…most drivers in the region establish their R/C racing career with Jimmy Babcocks series. This year was no different, with over 375 entries for a one day event it just goes to show that electric racing is striving once again. With various pros on hand from top names like Mike Truhe and WC Hayato Matsuzaki, their was no question the competition was high in the pro classes with nothing lacking in the rest of the classes either. Round 1 was a good teaser for how some of the electric drivers will par up for the rest of the year, with Nationals being held 15 mins away at West Coast, and of course later in the series as we start to hit some more outdoor tracks I wouldn’t be surprised to see more top names head out not only from the U.S. but internationally(just as last year saw) as worlds will be held here in California next year. Only time will tell what the rest of the series will bring but right now it’s only one race into the eight race series! Tune in next month to keep up to date on your favorite pro drivers while keeping an eye out for the up and comers!

Note: Special thanks to Zack Rogers for sending in this Report…

Tekin goes Psycho at the PNB 5

Tekin goes Psycho at the Psycho Nitro Blast 5

Tekin powered Adam Drake would put his TLR 8.0 2.0E Buggy on the pole after qualifying. Adam was out front early on trailed by the pack. Fellow Tekin teammate Jeremy Kortz in his Tekin powered Agama was on the move starting from the 5th position. Tekin European driver Renaud Sevoya would also move up in the field from this 7th position on the grid. After time expired Adam Drake would take the overall win with his Tekin/TLR ride, Jeremy Kortz with his Tekin/Agama ride, and Renaud Sevoya in his Tekin/Xray car. Proving that Tekin power is the power equipment chosen by top racers all over the world! All 3 drivers were using the Rx8 Esc and  Tekin 1900 T8 motors.

With the  Rx8 & 2000 Tekin T8 in Tekin team driver Barry Pettit’s Mugen Mbx6Te Barry turned a unheard of 49 second lap and then backed it up with a 48.5! A 48.5! This was the fastest laps of anyone else at the event, nitro or electric. Barry would go on to TQ the E-truggy class, win both mains and take the overall win!
